The 30-Second Verdict
If you import pens, notebooks, calculators or any kind of office or school supply, District 3 (Section H) of Yiwu International Trade City is where the whole category lives. Office & school supplies are concentrated on Floor 2, paper products on Floor 1, and factory-direct stationery manufacturers on Floor 4. In one day — often one morning — you can see the entire market for your product, compare a dozen suppliers without leaving the building, and collect quotes from factory-direct sellers.
Why District 3 (Section H) Is the Right Place
- Everything in one block. District 3 is a single compact block (Section H) with 6,000+ standard stalls on floors 1–3 and 600+ business suites on floors 4–5. The office & stationery category is not scattered across the market — it sits together, so you walk meters, not kilometers, between suppliers.
- Real comparison in minutes. On Floor 2 you can visit three stationery stalls, compare prices and MOQ, and be back at the elevator — the fastest way in the world to benchmark a stationery quote.
- Factory-direct sellers. Floor 4 is the manufacturer direct-sales center, with stationery factories selling without the middle layer. This is where private-label and volume deals happen.
- Built for sample-heavy buying. Cars can drive to every floor and there are rooftop parking lots, so collecting a box of samples from multiple stalls is painless.
Floor by Floor: Where Everything Is
Floor 1 — paper products (notebooks, loose paper, gift wrapping) plus eyewear.
Floor 2 — office & school supplies. This is your main floor: pens, pencils, erasers, rulers, tape, correction fluid, staplers, scissors, calculators, folders, binders, markers, highlighters, paper clips, sticky notes and desk organizers. Sports & fitness goods share this floor.
Floor 3 — cosmetics, mirrors & combs, buttons, zippers and garment trims (only relevant for beauty or garment buyers).
Floor 4 — manufacturer direct-sales center: stationery, sports, cosmetics and eyewear factories. Go here for OEM and volume pricing.
Floor 5 — larger business suites (80–100 m²) with bigger showrooms and trade offices.
What You Can Buy Here — the Real List
Ballpoint pens, gel pens, fountain pens, pencils & colored pencils, sharpeners, erasers, rulers & measuring tapes, notebooks & exercise books, loose-leaf paper, folders & binders, adhesive tape & dispensers, correction fluid & correction tape, staplers & staples, scissors & cutting tools, calculators, paper clips & fasteners, sticky notes, markers & highlighters, whiteboard markers, glue sticks, pencil cases, desk organizers, envelopes, gift wrapping and school supplies of every kind. If you can name it from a school or office catalog, it is on Floor 2.
Prices & MOQ: What to Expect
Most stationery is quoted per 1,000 pieces (pens, pencils, markers) or per piece/dozen for larger items (notebooks, calculators, staplers). At carton volume, basic ballpoint pens run around ✏️ [typical USD per 1,000 pcs] and standard A5 notebooks around ✏️ [typical USD per piece].
MOQs here are genuinely low compared with most categories: many stalls accept a single carton or a few hundred pieces for standard lines, and mixed cartons are common — you can combine ten SKUs from one supplier into one order. ✏️ [Add your typical stationery MOQ examples.]
Two questions to always ask: carton quantity (how many pieces per carton) and export packaging (plain export carton vs. retail-ready box) — both change your landed cost.
Private Label: Printing Your Logo
Floor 4 is where stationery factories take your brand: logo printing, custom colors, custom packaging. Typical logo-print MOQs start around ✏️ [MOQ, e.g., 1,000–3,000 pieces] with production around ✏️ [lead time, e.g., 7–15 days] for standard printing; custom colors and packaging add a few days. Bring your logo in vector format (AI or PDF) and your Pantone colors — the factory will show you a proof before mass production.
How to Shop District 3 in One Morning
- Go straight to Floor 2 — office & school supplies. Don’t get distracted on Floor 1 unless you also buy paper products.
- Bring photos of the products you need. Stall owners recognize them instantly and quote faster and more accurately.
- Compare at least three stalls per item. Write down each quote with the full stall address (District + Gate + Floor + Street + Stall, e.g., “D3 · 2F · Street 6 · Stall 15432”).
- Ask for carton quantity, MOQ and export packaging at every stall.
- For private label or volume, go up to Floor 4 and talk to the factories directly.
- Collect business cards and sample price lists as you go.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Buying the cheapest pen without testing it. Ink flow and build quality vary a lot between stalls at similar prices — test a few samples.
- Not asking about export packaging. Retail-ready boxes cost more than plain export cartons; know the difference before you compare prices.
- Assuming every “factory” on Floor 2 is a factory. Real direct-sales manufacturers are on Floor 4 — on Floor 2 you are mostly dealing with trading stalls.
- Mixing too many SKUs without planning MOQs. Ten SKUs × MOQ each adds up; balance your mix or accept a mixed-carton deal.
- Skipping the print proof. Always approve a digital proof (and a sample if available) for logo and color jobs.
